Background:
India is home to a rich culture and traditions that have traversed over thousands of years, and continue to be relevant to our current and future times. The National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 lays emphasis on an inclusive curriculum in which traditional knowledge plays an important role for both teachers and students. The Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Division of the Ministry of Education and the CSIR Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (CSIR-TKDL) Unit have joined hands to provide awareness and training on matters related to traditional knowledge in the context of intellectual property rights (IPR) as well as the knowledge holder(s) rights. This initiative by the IKS Division and CSIR-TKDL Unit is towards disseminating the value that our traditional knowledge holds towards addressing national aspirations on growth and development, while also laying emphasis on the ethical principles that need to be followed while
handling and working with such knowledge.
