The IKS Division is a section with in the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, established for the implementation of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Scheme. The Division commenced its operations from the headquarters of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in June 2020, with administrative support from AICTE. The Division was further strengthened in October 2021 to proactively implement its vision and expand its activities. Subsequently, the team was enlarged in June 2022 to enhance its outreach and impact. At present, the IKS Division receives administrative support from the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi. The Division is led by a National Coordinator and a dedicated IKS team, working towards the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into education, research, innovation.

IKS Centers

The IKS Centres Program is designed to promote and support the establishment of IKS Centres across the country. The programme aims to catalyse original research, education, and the dissemination of IKS knowledge. These Centres will serve as hubs that initiate and strengthen research, educational, and outreach activities related to IKS in various regions of the country.

IKS Reseach Projects

The goal of the research proposals program of the IKS division is to make catalytic grants that help young scientists launch their research, and help established scientists embark on new research directions or approaches related to IKS. We expect to fund Twenty new research proposals that will be funded in this round of proposal solicitation, subject to peer review process. The research projects will be provided a maximum funding support of 25 Lakhs per research project over two years.

IKS Internships

The IKS Internship program is designed to encourage and enthuse youth to take up deeper study of various topics related to IKS in Bharatiya Bhashas. The focus is to create opportunities for students to contribute and be involved in active research during the summer breaks or anytime during the year.

The IKS Division, under the scheme of Bhāratīya-jñāna Suśruta kāryakrama, invites faculty members to apply for the Thematic Coordinator in its initiative to integrate Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into mainstream education.
